Artie strolled into a legion and ordered up a brew
Said hello, son. How’s it go? I’ve nothing left to do.
But listen while I have you
I’ve something on my mind
I’d like to share a message, a message left behind.
He said, never again,
Never again,
Never again, on to war
I remember my war buddies; some of them are dead.
And the ones you see before you will support the words I’ve said
Lest we forget, we’ve made it clear
But there’s another call
His body hurt as he turned around and spoke his words through all.
They said, never again,
Never again,
Never again, on to war
Artie died one winter night not so long ago.
The ones who loved him gathered around, his end was sad and slow
He pulled a person near him
And with his final breath
Said, call us to remember but don’t (please don’t) forget the rest
